He is 13 years old.
It took 11 years of interventions.
And finally...
it's been done!
non-verbal Jordan started talking on his own the first day we met.
We are now on day five:
Jordan decides to say one more sentence.
He pronounces and cluster now.
I give
a pad and a post to his mother to write down the words -
sentences that her "non-verbal" son says for the first time.
I do not speak.
He speaks.
When we finish the conference I sit down to read the words he wrote and I see this :
...SO I'M SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S SAYING, NOT TEACH HIM WHAT TO SAY...
This is my greatest achievement!
I showed a broken mother how much potential her son has.
And..
to put it better:
We proved it together.
He and I.
Her son and me.
And even better:
His mother, him and me.
