Evangelos Bohatziar is a graduate of speech therapy from the TEI of Patras. He has been studying autism since 2000, when he was a student. He has presented papers and talks at international conferences. From the very early years of his career, working with autistic people in Greece, he immediately noticed the strong connections he made with them and even the unique experience with non-verbal autistic people who, while they had never spoken until the moment of their meeting, generously gave him their first words. With zeal and respect for this “gift”, he began traveling to many parts of the globe in the course of his work, seeing children with developmental disorders and autism, visiting clinics and giving talks about his findings at both national and international levels. He has now created his own intervention method “Bochatziar® 8i Method” that gives the right to speak to all non-verbal autistic people and those who speak but do not communicate verbally. His method is also applicable to non-autistic people with a similar clinical picture of speech, language and communication disorders with impressive results. He has his own clinic, Bochatziar 8i Autism Clinic, in Patras since 2007. He has attended many seminars in Greece and abroad on special intervention for children with dyslexia, learning difficulties as well as autism. He was trained in 2008 as a specialist therapist for Irlen syndrome in children and adults, by trainers in the UK. He was trained as a therapist in the UK by teachers in the UK. He then began the struggle to inform the public and experts about the new concepts in the field of developmental disorders through continuous seminars and articles throughout Greece and in many countries abroad. In January 2010, after completing more than 300 cases of work on Irlen Syndrome and Dyslexia, Autism in Greece and Cyprus, he continued his specialization in America (Irlen Institute International HQ, L. Beach, California) where he received his certification as a specialist therapist in visual perceptual problems of children and adults. He is currently an Irlen Method trainer and diagnostician in Cyprus, Italy, Bulgaria and the United Arab Emirates (Muscat, Oman). In addition, he completed his specialization in learning disabilities from the Institute of Neurophysiology and Psychology, Chester (UK-UK), the teacher training program, in the context of diagnosis and rehabilitation of neurodevelopmental delay in children with specific learning disabilities or coordination and orientation disorders. He is also a specialist preschool stuttering therapist under the Lidcombe programme and a parent trainer.
