Acoustic Therapies (Johansen)
The acoustic therapy Johansen (Johansen Sound Therapy) is the controlled activation of the ear with a variety of sounds and/or vibration. It is a home-based program that uses custom-made CDs of case-specific, specially recorded classical music. It was started in Denmark by Dr K. Johansen and has spread throughout Europe as well as the USA.
In which cases acoustic therapy can be used Johansen;
- In children with "auditory processing delay" which means that sound, especially language, is not transferred to the brain as quickly or as clearly as it should be. There may already be a diagnosis of dyslexia or other learning difficulties.
- Children with delayed speech and language development. These problems may have arisen due to birth injury, a glued ear, repeated ear infections or as a result of autism.
- Attention deficit, hyperactivity, dyspraxia
- Children or adults with stuttering or hesitant speech
- People who wish to improve their auditory perception (The treatment has a significant effect on their ability to learn foreign languages, speak in public and attend speeches, play a musical instrument or sing)
- People who experience ringing in the ears or noise associated with hearing loss
- People who have speech problems after an accident (CSE) or stroke (stroke)
