Τhe System is rotten.-

I had a session today with twelve-year-old Peter, supposedly non-verbal autistic, supposedly severely disabled.

He drinks some of the orange juice I offered him. He hands it to me and says:

"Keep it, you keep it, you keep it, you keep it!"

"What? Why are you talking to me in plural?" I answer him.

"Stranger." He says to me.

I continue, "I'm not a stranger. I'm your friend..."

And he answers me again:

"KEEP IT!"

He turns from the plural of politeness to the singular.

His mother, who is watching the session rolls her eyes and smiles, visibly moved.

This teenager is , HOPEFULLY, severely mentally challenged.

He is SUBSTANTIALLY, non-verbal.

With... very low potential.

HOWEVER!

This almost teenager can do it all!

This teenager has no problems at all.

The only problem is the system.

The system that is rotten, rotten, rotten, rotten, rotten, rotten, rotten, rotten...

ROTTEN!!!

It stinks of rot!!!

I'm sure no one would expect this young man to talk to me in the plural and then turn it around to the singular...

because I told him I felt he was my friend.

I'm sure because the system

IT'S ROTTEN!
